Cursillo de Cristiandad

Cursillo is short for Cursillo de Cristiandad, meaning “Short course in Christianity.” The Cursillo movement started in Spain in 1949 under the founder Bishop Juan Hervas. The Cursillo gives those who make it a new understanding of basic Christian truths and the desire to serve the Church.
The Cursillo Retreat offers a “once in a lifetime” weekend retreat which allows for a heartfelt experience of Christ’s love for us. The retreats are scheduled for all men one month and all women the next. St. Mary-St. Catherine of Siena Parish has a vibrant community of Cursillistas. Although retreats take place in the fall, registrations are collected during the summer and local coordinators are available to meet with those who are interested!
From a Thursday evening to Sunday evening, priests and lay people live and work together to gain a deep, permanent, living awareness of the treasure and responsibility of their faith. They come with many questions and some apprehension. They leave full of joyful enthusiasm as brothers and sisters in Christ, determined to extend the kingdom of Christ.
